Designing
Beyond Language
for K - Culture Content

mJslc78g.jpeg

Driven by the global rise of K-pop, webtoons, gaming, and blockbuster drama series, contemporary Korean culture has captured the world’s imagination. While these streaming hits and digital media easily cross borders, storytelling-heavy live performances such as theater and traditional opera remain confined within the limits of textual translation.

This workshop challenges participants to dismantle these verbal barriers in live performance through a multi-disciplinary approach. How can the physical structures of space reconfigure the auditorium to bridge the linguistic gap? In what ways can interactive objects and devices amplify the audience's senses to convey emotion? How can visual signs and graphic communication intuitively guide international viewers through unfamiliar cultural contexts?

Moving beyond static subtitles, we invite you to design an interconnected ecosystem of experience where theatrical narratives are translated through the universal language of design.
